What if Money Didn't Matter

I saw this video last year ( you can see the whole thing here) when i was about to head to england for my master's degree and i stumbled upon it again a few days ago, and it made me think, what would i do if money didn't matter? and i think i would take my camera, a backpack and i would travel the world, i would take pictures of everything and everyone because i love how pictures can freeze moments in time, i would make videos, it doesn't matter of what or whom, i like videos... i would also write a lot , i would write about the places i've been, the different cultures i've seen, the food, the clothes, the values, the people and how i felt about it all, i would maybe paint and draw, i would be some sort of an undefined artist. I would also help people, as much as i can, i like all kind of voluntary work and i think that it's very important to give back to your community. For now, i'm trying to do a lot more of what i like,  i do take pictures a lot and i make silly videos that i keep for myself and i'm trying to learn how to draw, i do some voluntary work and i traveled as much as my finances allowed me to in the few past years... so i guess i'm ok!

but enough about me, i would like to introduce you to some people that i think are just incredible. they're the kind of people that make things happen and go for adventures and make their life worth living. i'm sure there are many many others out there but these are my three favorites.

i will start with Alex and Taru who are sailing around the world on a boat since october 2012, it's a lifestyle they chose to adopt because they feel that harmony and freedom are what matters the most, and when asked about what they will do when it's all over they say
"Sometimes people ask us: Where would you like to live when you are done with your travels? Most of the time we answer: Wherever there is sun and warmth, a simple, flavorful, eclectic ambiance, where there is a direct possibility to feel free and unattached... Wherever and whatever that brings us joy, simplicity, peace and fulfillment - that is where we belong."

The Second one is a young Moroccan called Anass Yakine who's traveling all over Morocco by foot. He documents his amazing journey in his facebook page where he posts regularly about where he is and who he meets. I think it's an incredibly courageous thing for him to do. Morocco is a beautiful country and he'll have the chance to see most of it by the end of his journey and what an insipiration he is to all the Moroccan youth!

"I had the choice between taking control of my life and enjoying every moment fully or remain a slave of a stereotyped society and endure the consequences ... I refuse to be "normal" and to conform. I decided to go after my dreams so that when i am old (inshaalah) i would not have wasted the time that god gave me on earth"

Last but not least, Baba Louay. There is a quote that i absolutely love that says "Quit your job, buy a ticket, get a tan, fall in love, never return" well this guy did exactly just that! ( ok i don't know about the fall in love and get a tan part, also he did return but you get the point). He used to study at my prior university and then he graduated, got a job but then decided to leave it all behind and go to india for a breath taking journey.

"I engage in life changing trips in order to find more about myself, I get lost to find myself, to discover what I want and learn from the experiences of other people whom I meet in the way. and it is tremendously impactful and inspiring. This is my pursuit of happiness. I hope that you take the time to think and realise that the best moment to do what you wish for is now and the best moment in which you can spend your savings in is the present one. "
I don't know him that well, well actually not at all but i have a new found respect for his being. you can read more about his journey, his thoughts and some of his other writings on his blog: Baba Louay

and you? what would you do if money didn't matter?

  4. Travel would most definitely be number one on the list if money weren't an issue! And spend my time doing bits of this and that to try and figure out what I'd like to do with my life! haha

  5. I would spend my money on travelling. That's what I love to do, sadly it's not cheap. Flights, hotels, etc.
